David S. Bisol, Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Historical Museum, passed away on April 21, 2012, at the age of sixty.

The Santa Barbara historical community suffered a great loss with the passing of David Bisol.  David had been active in local history circles since the age of sixteen and began his work at the Historical Museum in 1989, serving as Curator, Assistant Director and Executive Director.  David brought incredible drive, creativity, and passion to what he often described as his “dream job.”  His imaginative touch with exhibitions, his managerial expertise, and leadership inspired all who worked with him at the Museum.  His loss is deeply felt.

A memorial service will be held by the Santa Barbara Historical Museum and his family in the courtyard of the Museum, 136 East De la Guerra Street, on Sunday, May 6, at 1 pm.  The David S. Bisol Memorial Fund has been established by the Museum to receive donations on his behalf to continue his legacy of “building a future worth remembering.”
